Xavier Day

As students entered the college today, the first thing to catch their eyes was the giant light blue “Happy Xavier Day” banner, which stretched across the length of the chapel. This generous gesture, provided by House Captains Gemma Smith and Matthew Hasson, certainly set the tone for a wonderful day.

The day commenced with the House coming together to celebrate in Mass.

A candleholder representing the life of our House patron was used as a processional symbol to help us remember why St Francis Xavier is our House’s role model. The talents of Xavier House members shone through in the music, ministry and re-enactment of the Gospel reading. The generous student involvement certainly gave the Mass a more unique and personal touch.

The House then gathered again at lunch time to eat together and compete in a tug of war competition. The food was out of the ordinary, as staff spent many hours in kitchen preparing delicious pork and gravy rolls. Then, after our mouth-watering lunch, we split up into PC groups and participated in an intense tug of war competition.

Interestingly, the PC group led by Xavier’s House Coordinator Mr Lenzarini managed to reign undefeated!

Overall, the memorable day captured the true spirit of St Francis Xavier. Students would like to sincerely thank all of those who dedicated their time to make this day extra special.
