This year’s Dance Night, So You Think You Can Dance Kolbe, was an exciting and artistic array of different dance styles.
Dance students worked diligently throughout Semester One to present a number of pieces including troupes, trios and solo performances, each involving original choreography, and a variety of dance styles.
During theory classes, students investigated the origins and techniques of a number of dance styles, and focused on applying these principles to their own dance works and choreography.
Due to the large number of dancers involved in Dance Night 2012, the students performed their dance showcase on Thursday and Friday night, giving the maximum number of people the opportunity to see the talent that Kolbe has to offer. It was a fantastic opportunity for students from Year 8 to Year 12 to work collaboratively to achieve success.
A special commendation is extended to everyone who attended Dance Night, and for the many parents who supported their children throughout the rehearsals and performances, we thank you.
The students also offered a huge thank you to Miss Staniforth and the senior students for all of their support in coordinating and organising the showcase.
Finally special thanks go out to the many teachers and students who helped students to perfect the dances with attention to choreography, costumes, lighting and music.
