Chisholm Banner

  • The sails represent the travel Caroline Chisholm made when she journeyed to Australia in early pioneer times.
  • The figures represent the women and children she helped upon their arrival in Australia.
  • The houses represent Caroline Chisholm’s efforts to improve the living conditions for the needy.
  • The motto signifies her strong Christian faith and her dedication to those in need, irrespective of their race or creed.

Caroline Chisholm

Born in Northampton in May 1808, Caroline Chisholm worked tirelessly throughout her lifetime in both England and Australia establishing Female Schools of Industry, Female Immigrants’ Homes and a Girls’ School in NSW.

In 1877, Caroline Chisholm died at home in England, poor and almost forgotten, but Australian history recognises her as one of our greatest women.
