ACC - SWISSA EVENTS

Kolbe College along with most members of the Associated and Christian Colleges participates in the three annual interschool carnivals.

Following Kolbe College's own house carnivals we compete within the local Southern SWISSA group comprising independent schools in the south west corridor and then the culmination of the students efforts are realised with participation in the ACC event which we qualify for.

The members include the following 8 schools:

• Kolbe Catholic College (joined 1995)
• Tranby College (joined 1997)
• Frederick Irwin Anglican School (joined 1995)
• Mandurah Catholic College (joined 1995)
• Bunbury Catholic College (joined 1995)
• Bunbury Cathedral Grammar School (joined 1995)
• Georgiana Molloy Anglican School (joined 2006)
• Ocean Forrest Lutheran College (joined 2007)

The South West Independent Schools Sporting Association (SWISSA) is an association of independent schools based south of Perth, that came together to give students opportunities to participate in inter-school carnivals in Athletics, Cross-country and Swimming. Events are split between those around Mandurah/Rockingham in the north and Bunbury/Busselton to the south.

An important objective of the Association is to promote good will between the schools and the members believe that this is best achieved by limiting the number of member schools to eight.

The aims, therefore, are to organise annual carnivals that provide:

1. Annual competitions in accordance with the SWISSA Charters for each carnival
2. A culmination to schools' annual Athletics, Cross-Country and Swimming programmes that give students the opportunity to further develop their skills while representing their school
3. A precursor to the corresponding ACC Carnivals (for those schools who participate in ACC)
4. A high level of participation, good competition and genuine respect for fellow competitors.

Anecdotally, students in these regions often look forward to the SWISSA carnivals because they often know students in these regions quite well having competed in other sporting events in regional clubs.
