On Wednesday, 28th August, the College community gathered in the Chapel to celebrate the 2024 Student Leaders Mass, a significant event that recognises the dedication and commitment of our student leaders. This annual Mass not only serves as a spiritual reflection but also as a celebration of the leadership qualities that have guided our students throughout the year.
The ceremony began with a warm welcome, acknowledging the leadership contributions of students across all Houses, Year groups, and portfolios. Inspired by our Patron Saint, Maximilian Kolbe, the Mass underscored the values of courage, faith, and excellence, which are central to our College ethos. Kolbe’s example of servant leadership, mirroring that of Jesus, is a model our students strive to embody in their daily lives. During the Mass, students offered prayers of thanks for the blessing of leadership, reflecting on their efforts to follow God’s law and lead by example.
The Mass was a powerful reminder that, as St Paul taught, true leadership in the Christian sense goes beyond skills—it requires a heart aligned with God’s will. Our student leaders, especially the Year 12 cohort, have shown exceptional leadership throughout the year, guiding and supporting their peers with unwavering commitment. The leadership camp in 2023, though a distant memory, laid the foundation for the ideas and ambitions that have shaped this year’s successes.
The evening concluded with a light supper where the students were joined by their families and a heartfelt thanks was given to all of our student leaders for their hard work and achievements. Their contributions have not only strengthened our school community but have also exemplified the Kolbe way—leading with courage, faith, and excellence.
