IMG_6038Following his graduation from Kolbe Catholic College in 2006, Jason studied Electrotechnology and Graphic Design.

As a student, he was involved in┬áthe College’s productions of Little Shop of Horrors, The Outsiders, Back to the 80’s and Away.

Jason has recently been cast in Beautiful: The Carole King Musical where he plays a variety of characters and ensemble.

“I play Neil Sedaka, Lou Adler and Bobby Hatfield, as well as being the understudy for Barry Mann who is one of the principal characters.”

This comes off the back of Jason’s recent move to Sydney after graduating from WAAPA last year.

He also featured in a docudrama series called Deadly Women which was on pay-for-view and wrote a musical with a friend which has been workshopped in Melbourne.

Jason said after he graduated from the community, he knew where he wanted to go but no idea how to go about it.

“The performing arts has a variety of different ways to break in, so I guess I had the goal but didn’t know the path just yet.”

One of the reasons why he loves the performing arts is the ability to be on stage performing every night, which he said is such a rewarding experience.

“It’s a bit of an adrenaline boost every night not knowing exactly how everything will go.

“Loving the stage came from high school to be honest, that is where it all started for me!”

Jason said getting the opportunity to do shows throughout his time at Kolbe helped him to discover exactly what he wanted his career to be.

“It did take a few years to gain the confidence to go all in, but my passion for it started back then with Miss Blackborrow and Miss Phillips!”

As for what is next for Jason, he hopes to move into lead roles and possibly film and television.

“It’s a slow process and takes time though, so we will see what happens!”

Jason Arrow also offered up this advice for those wanting to pursue performing arts careers.

“Anyone trying to do the arts will get to a point where they’ll need to decide if they’re going to absolutely go for it or keep it as a hobby.

“It’s kind of an ‘all or nothing’ career choice, yes it’s difficult but very rewarding!

“Always have other interests, that will help you out as well.”
Beautiful: The Carole King Musical is currently playing at Sydney Lyric Theatre until January 2018.
