2017 Grandparent’s Mass

Grandparents play an important role in the raising of children, they are seen as a source of support and provide an important link to family by playing a role in positively influencing our young people.

Our Year 8 Grandparents Mass and morning tea was a very successful event and has helped to create special memories in the educational journey of our students.

School Based Traineeship Success

4bKolbe Catholic College students are given many great opportunities to complete vocational qualifications while also getting paid while completing their training through a school based traineeship.

Year 12 students Taylah Geling, Jessica Hilton and Georgia Jack completed their school based traineeship (Certificate II Hospitality) in their own time so that they could still focus on their other studies at school.

Jacinta Posik visits the University of California

Screen Shot 2017-08-22 at 10.34.54 AMYear 10 student Jacinta Posik recently travelled to America where she took part in a two week painting summer course at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

The course taught Jacinta to push her limits and try new things, painting landscapes, paint still life and abstract art.

Year 9 Circus Skills Workshop

IMG_2277Last week saw Year 9 students participate in a circus skills workshop with Dance Teacher Miss Jessica Smart.

Students were taught creative ways to enhance a street theatre comedy peformance by using lazzi, comedy tricks, acrobatics and circus skills.

Year 12 Sports Injury Management

Last week the four Year 12 Certificate II Sport & Recreation classes had sessions on sports injury management from Sports Medicine Australia.

The sessions included ankle, thumb and finger taping, with students being told that the annual taping budget (just for the Elastoplast tape itself) of the Fremantle Dockers is around $50,000.

Kolbe Day 2017

IMG_2322Kolbe Catholic College’s Patron Saint Maximilian Kolbe was remembered for the way he volunteered to die in place of a stranger in Auschwitz.

As a community, the College gathers each year to celebrate our Patron’s life and sacrifice through Kolbe Day.

2017 Year 12 Geography Excursion

IMG_3770The Year 12 ATAR Geography class travelled to Perth on Monday August 7 to explore the challenges faced by our growing city.

Perth’s current population of around 1.5 million is predicted to more than double by 2050, which will require at least 700,000 more homes to be built and the city’s entire infrastructure will have to double.

Year 7’s visit Australian Islamic College

20170809_120121On Wednesday August 9 a group of Year 7 students visited the Australian Islamic College in Thornlie.

The day proved to be an enriching experience for all who attended where lessons were given on the Arabic language and calligraphy, and the students were taught the Islamic religious custom of washing parts of their body before they pray.
