Teresa House united on Tuesday September 12 in order to celebrate their Patron Saint Mother Teresa.
In 1979 Saint Mother Teresa delivered a Nobel Peace Price lecture and said, “Love begins at home, and it is not how much we do, but how much love we put in the action that we do.”
Teresa House’s chosen charity to support during 2017 is The Lucy Saw Centre, a woman and children’s home within our region.
Along with the $1500 which was donated from Kolbe Day profits, students donated baskets of non-perishable items to the centre.
The day began with Teresa House gathering in the College Chapel to reflect on the life of their Patron Saint.
A big feature of the mass was a large cross which was hung from the roof as a focal point for students and staff.
This was followed by Year 12 students holding a morning tea to thanks Teresa House Staff, before the house gathered together again at lunch for a sausage sizzle and cake.
As part of the celebration, the Chapel windows were covered in blue fish which represented each member of Teresa House as each fish had the face of a Teresa House student.
Teresa House Coordinator Mrs Sharee Hart said that care and compassion for all members of our community begins at home.
“I would sincerely like to thank all of our students, staff and community that continue to support our organisations who assist others in need.”
