Groovin the Nue 2024

Emily Mitchell (Event Coordinator)

From seasoned songbirds to brand new band crew, everyone had their moment in the spotlight at Groovin the Nue. The music festival was the perfect harmony of talented students, fabulous food, and more than 250 members of our beautiful Kolbe community, gathering to witness a showcase of excellence on stage.

“Groovin in the Nue was such a fun and awesome experience. Everyone had such a great time, and the afternoon was filled with laughing, cheering, and really helped everyone feel welcomed and accepted. I loved performing with my friends, the supportive atmosphere from the community, and of course, the food afterwards!” – Charli, Year 8

The upper school music students absolutely rocked the outdoor venue “the Avenue” with their amazing performances. They were joined by the lower school scholarship students contributing soulful sounds of saxophone, brass, and bass instruments. Some of our Year 7’s even took the stage with only 3 weeks of playing experience.

“My favourite part of Grooving the Nue is the support that all the students show each other, cheering loudly and dancing to the music. Performing is so thrilling, I never feel more alive than when I’m up on stage. The best moment is looking out at the audience and seeing people sing along.” – Kelsey, Year 11

There were energetic performances of contemporary and rock bands, original music, incredible solo performances – The night was filled with enthusiasm, encouragement, and fun. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, with blankets spread out on the grass, creating the perfect setting for music lovers to come together and enjoy the show.

“Groovin the Nue was an amazing opportunity to perform in front of our peers and people that enjoy music, which created a sense of comfort as there wasn’t much pressure on you. Everyone there was really supportive, and this strengthens the Kolbe community as everyone can come together through music. I personally loved being able to perform my original song for my friends and family in a judgement-free environment.” – Lily, Year 10

A huge round of applause to all the performers who razzled and dazzled like the rock stars they are! A massive thank you to the grandparents, cousins, friends, and family who came out to support our talented musicians and make this event a success! A big thank you also to the dedicated staff and helpers from our Parents & Friends Association who made this event possible. And finally, three cheers for Runnin Roasts, El Aleman Loco, The Food Bazaar, and Baked & Loaded for giving us the energy to dance and sing all night!
