Italy 2024 – Arrivederci Kolbe – Ciao Italia!

Maria Bellini (Head of Languages)

We are thrilled to announce the return of Kolbe Catholic College’s Italian Cultural Exchange Programme, the first since the COVID-19 disruptions! Departing on the 29th of November and returning on the 17th of December, this long-awaited journey will immerse students in Italy’s rich history, art, and culture.

Our exciting itinerary includes:

– Guided tours of Rome’s iconic Colosseum and Vatican City, alongside visits to key sites
significant to Kolbe’s history.
– A hands-on Italian cooking class in Sorrento.
– A fascinating tour of the ancient ruins of Pompeii.
– Art, culture, and language lessons in the stunning city of Florence.
– A visit to the famous Leaning Tower of Pisa.
– A much-anticipated stay with our sister school, Liceo Properzio d’Assisi, in Assisi.

Kolbe’s connection with Liceo Properzio d’Assisi dates back to 1998, when our first exchange programme took place. Over the years, this partnership has flourished, offering students from both schools a deeply enriching and rewarding experience. Due to the growing interest in the programme, this year, Emmanuel Catholic College has joined forces with Kolbe to co-host visiting students and teachers from Assisi. For the first time, Emmanuel students will be part of this exciting exchange, making this journey even more special.

Year 10 student, Jake, shares his excitement:

“We are proud to be representing our college community and feel privileged to be given this opportunity. We will strive to continue the legacy of this bond between Kolbe and Liceo Properzio by fully embracing all that Italy has to offer.”

Rebecca, also in Year 10, echoes the enthusiasm:

“We are especially excited about the friendships we’ll form as we share this once-in-a-lifetime experience with our fellow tour participants. We look forward to sharing our adventures when we return!”

We can’t wait to live the DOLCE VITA in Italy! Viva Italia!
