“Follow the Shepherd, not the Sheep was a theme that really encapsulated how our Kolbe community can embody the core Christian values reflecting Jesus Christ” remarked Ministry Captain Jasmine who, along with fellow Ministry Captain Maria led our Student Ministry Team in developing the theme. This dedicated group of students wanted to visualise Jesus as the Good Shepherd, and our patron, St. Maximilian Kolbe, who ‘followed the shepherd’ throughout his life.
The day began with a beautiful Mass, with over 60 students involved, reflecting on the remarkable life of our patron, and how we as a community can follow his commitment to love. Jasmine also reflected, “I believe that Kolbe Day is one of the most anticipated days in the school year, it was special in honouring our Patron Saint, Maximilian Kolbe.”
The day continued after Mass with Max’s Games which gave students the opportunity to interact with their PC and then onto the stalls, which saw proceeds go to our six worthy House charities. The favourites appeared to be the silent disco and the traditional favourite Hagiwara Noodles. Ministry Captain Maria reflected that “whether it was through the fun activities or the moments of reflection, it was clear that St. Maximilian Kolbe’s legacy is alive and well in our community.”
