Kolbe Spirit Shines

On Wednesday 24 September, the Kolbe Catholic College community gathered for a very special whole school assembly. This milestone occasion farewelled our Year 12 students at their final assembly, celebrated the achievements of our 2025 leaders, and officially welcomed our 2026 College Captains and Year 8–11 student leaders.

Our House and Ministry Captains presented the final House and Koort Awards, recognising students and staff for exceptional service. The Koort Award, meaning “heart,” honoured those showing selfless love through their actions. We were joined by Mrs Deb Hamblin, Mayor of Rockingham, who presented Leadership and Scholarship Awards. The ADF Future Innovators Award also recognised students excelling in Science and Mathematics, demonstrating the integrity, commitment, and motivation valued in STEM and Defence careers.

KolbeCare Captain, Leon, delivered his final report, highlighting student service throughout the year, including Kolbe’s decade-long support of the World’s Greatest Shave, which has raised over $130,000, and the success of Pink Up Kolbe for the McGrath Foundation. Visual Arts Captain, Isabel, announced the upcoming FORGE Art & Technology Exhibition in Term 4, showcasing creative works from Years 7–12. Wellbeing Captain, Sabatini, reflected on the success of R U OK? Day and revealed the winners of the first Clean Art Initiative: Emily (Year 9), Noble (Year 10), and Morgan (Year 8).

The 2025 Student Executive delivered a creative farewell, using symbols such as a tree, hidden heroes, and the Bin Brigade to reflect on the year’s journey. They highlighted this year’s theme “Learn from the Past, Live in the Present, and Look to the Future.” Drawing inspiration from Kolbe’s story, they encouraged students to embrace opportunities, care for their community, and leave behind a legacy of kindness, persistence, and excellence. They closed by thanking their peers, teachers, and future leaders, urging everyone to continue standing up, stepping forward, and walking together in courage, faith, and hope.

This assembly celebrated both achievement and the journey of faith, growth, and community that has shaped 2025. As our Year 12s prepare to graduate, we honour their leadership and service, thank our 2025 Captains, and warmly welcome the 2026 student leaders. The spirit of Kolbe continues to shine through the dedication, compassion, and hope of our students and staff.
