In Week Two, our 2026 Student Leaders stepped into their new roles with confidence and heart, heading out to the bushland surrounds of Jarrahdale for our annual Leadership Camp. A much-loved tradition at Kolbe, the camp offers students and staff a rare chance to pause, connect, and set the tone for the year ahead.
It was the first major event for our incoming Year 12 Leadership Team, and they took full ownership—planning, organising, and running the camp from start to finish. Their energy and commitment to creating something meaningful was clear in every detail, from the activities they ran to the atmosphere they helped shape.
Over two days, leaders from Years 7 to 11 shared stories, tackled challenges together, and built the kind of trust that turns a group into a team. They swam in the natural water hole, walked the forest trail by torchlight, and kept cosy by the fireplace lovingly tended to by Mr Russell! A karaoke session and a talent show—featuring Mr Jones with a two-minute monologue of dad jokes!—brought plenty of laughs and camaraderie as the leaders celebrated each other’s gifts and talents . Reflection time led by Mr Bomford and our Ministry Captains Reese and Daniela gave students space to think about leadership as service, and what that might look like in the year ahead.
The Year 11 leaders led from the front, encouraging their peers to step outside their comfort zones and embrace the experience. As Tanaya shared, “I really enjoyed going to Leadership Camp and having the opportunity to make the camp special for the younger students, as it was done for me in previous years. I loved seeing the result of the camp and watching new connections and relationships blossom over the two days.”
Jasmine added, “My first Leadership Camp was an incredible experience. The energy, the activities, and the bonds and memories made. Being able to properly meet the 2026 Leadership Team was amazing.”
This group of young leaders has already shown what they’re capable of, and we’re excited to see how they continue to grow, lead, and serve the Kolbe community in the year ahead.
