In a world that can feel fractured, divided and under pressure, it’s important to remind ourselves of what can unite us and help to find common ground.
This week, I asked a class of Year 8 students about what message of unity they would like to share. Some comments encapsulated the value of courage, to step forward and make the most of opportunities.
My message to the community is try out for everything even if you fail you’ll still make friends and make a difference. – Nathan
Courage was also reflected with encouragement to walk together, supporting others on their journey and growing in positive relationships.

Harmony Day was a celebration of different cultures and perspectives, with performances, activities and shared connections. It lived our College value of faith by walking together to be our true selves and celebrate our differences.

Sport provides another avenue for students to demonstrate excellence by standing up to share their gifts and talents. The recent ACC Division A swimming carnival was a highly competitive event, with sport and competition done in the right spirit.

There’s so much on offer at Kolbe, with the school often active from the early hours of the morning until the evening. Each of the clubs, events, and opportunities are ways for students to be involved, gain a sense of belonging, and feel the pride that comes with being part of a larger community.
Heading into the end of Lent and Easter, I’m reminded that renewal and change are always possible. That we can be thankful for the past and hope-filled for the future. There’s much more of the school year ahead and lots of different ways for students to change up their approach to the community by trying new opportunities and striving for their personal best. I wish everyone a wonderful and Holy Easter break, and I look forward to Term 2, where we can continue to unite and connect as a community.
