In Week Two, I had the privilege of spending two full days with our newly elected 2025 student leaders at the beautiful CYC Camp Cooloongup. Our student leadership camp is an annual highlight on the College calendar for both staff and students, as the young leaders spend valuable time together, learning about their strengths and forming bonds as a team.
This was the first major event for our new 2025 Year 12 Leadership Team, who worked together in the weeks leading up to plan, organise, and run the entire camp! The future of Kolbe looks incredibly bright, as these exceptional young people embraced the challenge of creating an engaging and fun experience for all involved.
Camp highlights included a slip and slide when the afternoon sun came out, roasting marshmallows and making s’mores by the campfire at night, as well as the delicious homestyle meals provided by the CYC staff. The leaders made the most of the spacious
outdoor areas for team-building activities before getting to work planning new and exciting initiatives for next year.
By all accounts, the camp was a resounding success. Year 11 student Oscar said, “Leaders’ camp was a great experience for all of us—the friends made, connections shared, memories formed, and community built. It was a great first experience for me and many others.” Bianca, in Year 8, also enjoyed the connections made, sharing that, “Leaders’ camp was so fun. I loved doing all the activities and getting to know everyone.”
We look forward to watching these inspiring leaders continue to grow and develop in the coming year as they serve their community with pride.
