On Tuesday, 15 October, Kolbe Catholic College celebrated the Year 12 Graduation for the Class of 2024 at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre. It was a special evening filled with reflection, gratitude, and pride as students, families, and staff gathered to honour the achievements of our graduating class.
The ceremony began with a symbolic procession where parents and students presented items that represented the College’s core values of Courage, Faith, and Excellence. These symbols served as powerful reminders of the six-year journey the students undertook, guided by the example of St. Maximilian Kolbe. Each symbol marked the strength of the Kolbe community and the shared experiences that have shaped these young adults.
The night featured moving speeches from students Jack Cooper and Ella Lazakovic, who reflected on their time at Kolbe and captured the essence of the evening. Their words reminded everyone that this moment was not an end but the start of new adventures. One parent captured the emotion of the event, sharing, “Such a beautiful and emotional night. My eyes filled with tears at this moment.”
Head of Year 12, Mr. Darren Russell, added humour and heartfelt wisdom, sharing personal anecdotes about the unique challenges and memorable moments the students experienced. He emphasised the importance of resilience, family, and the life lessons the graduates will carry with them.
As each graduate walked across the stage to receive their certificates and retreat crosses, blessed by Fr Pier, the sense of pride and accomplishment was undeniable. The College Student Executive reflected on their friendships and the growth that shaped their time at Kolbe, stressing the lasting impact of the community as they step confidently into the future.
Principal Mr. Alweyn concluded the evening by encouraging the graduates to live lives rooted in love, compassion, and service, guided by the examples of Jesus Christ and St. Maximilian Kolbe. He wished them, as we all do, every success and reminded them that they will always be part of the Kolbe family, wherever their journeys take them.
