Last week, Kolbe Catholic College brought Beauty and the Beast Jr to life at the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, filling the theatre with music, magic and heart. The production showcased the talent and hard work of students, supported by a dedicated team of staff and families.
The show featured high energy ensemble numbers, powerful solo performances and creative design that transformed the stage into the Beast’s enchanted castle. Behind the scenes, a skilled stage crew, led by a Kolbe staff member as stage manager, ensured every cue, scene change and lighting moment ran smoothly. The production team was a collaborative mix of staff from Performing Arts, Visual Arts and Media, who worked together on sets, costumes, props, choreography and promotional materials.
For students, the experience was about more than performance. “I really enjoyed spending these few months with my friends doing something together that we love”, said Aiden, Year 11. Ellie, also Year 11, added, “What I enjoyed most was making new friendships with students in younger years. After months of rehearsals, we have shared many memories that will last”.
The musical gave students the chance to build confidence, resilience and teamwork while creating lasting memories. It also highlighted the strength of Kolbe’s arts program, where creativity and community go hand in hand.
Thanks to the Mandurah Performing Arts Centre, staff, families and friends for supporting this wonderful production. As the curtain falls, the friendships and skills built during Beauty and the Beast Jr will continue to shine in future Kolbe performances. We look forward to taking some of the cast on tour to Sydney for the Junior Musical Theatre Festival, run by MTI, in October.
