Bright Futures Start Here

Pathways Team

As Year 10 and Year 11 students prepare to make important and exciting decisions about their future pathways and subject selections, it has been a significant semester for the Pathways Team at Kolbe Catholic College.

At Kolbe, we believe pathway development is about more than preparing students for life after school. It is about providing opportunities for students to begin exploring, experiencing and living their future while they are still at school.

Throughout Semester One, students have engaged in a wide range of experiences designed to support informed decision-making and build confidence for life beyond the classroom. Students in the Year 11 and Year 12 Futures programs have continued to combine workplace learning with industry pathway training, gaining valuable experience in real workplaces while progressing towards future qualifications and career goals.

The Year 11 Work Ready Program has also continued to grow, providing students with opportunities to develop practical employability skills through workplace learning, certified training, industry engagement and the recent Employability Skills Short Course. Reflecting on his experience, Year 11 student Cooper Nolan shared that one of the program’s greatest benefits was “building confidence with others and finding new opportunities”.

Students pursuing university pathways recently completed Curtin University’s UniReady Communications Intensive Unit, strengthening the academic skills required for future tertiary study. Meanwhile, our Year 10 students participated in their Future Focus Day, exploring university, training and employment pathways ahead of Year 11 subject selections.

Whether students are pursuing university, training, apprenticeships or employment, the focus remains the same: helping every student discover their strengths, explore possibilities and make informed decisions about their future.

We thank our many industry, training and community partners whose support continues to create meaningful opportunities for Kolbe students.
