This week our school community gathered for one of the proudest occasions in our calendar, the Semester One Academic Awards Assembly, recognising the outstanding achievements of students across every subject area. The assembly also held special significance as the first Academic Assembly in our new Gymnasium, and the space was filled to capacity, with families, carers and friends joining staff and students to celebrate.
Awards were presented to top achievers in each subject, from English, Mathematics, Religious Education and the Sciences through to the Arts, Humanities, Languages, Technologies and Health and Physical Education. What is particularly worthy of recognition is not just the calibre of the results themselves, but the dedication and effort behind them. These students have demonstrated consistency, curiosity and resilience across Semester One to become the highest achiever in their subject and year group. An academic award represents far more than a final grade. It reflects the many small decisions made each day: to remain focused when learning is challenging, to prepare thoroughly, to ask questions, to act upon advice and to continue striving for improvement. These habits not only contribute to success at school, but also build the discipline, confidence and character that will serve students well beyond the classroom.
It was also pleasing to recognise the breadth of achievement represented at the assembly. Academic excellence can take many forms, and every student’s learning journey is unique. For some, success may be demonstrated through consistently high achievement; for others, it may be reflected in significant growth, renewed effort or the courage to persist through difficulty.
On behalf of the College, I warmly congratulate all students who received an award, you should be immensely proud of what you have achieved. I also extend our sincere appreciation to the families and staff whose encouragement, guidance and support continue to play such an important role in our students’ success.
