This year marked an exciting first for our Kolbe Indigenous students from Years 9 to 12, as they took part in the Murlpirrmarra 2025 Indigenous Tennis & Learning Coaching Day held at the Royal Kings Park Tennis Club. The event brought together students from 21 different schools, making it the largest Indigenous tennis engagement in Australia.
Throughout the day, our students had the incredible opportunity to be coached by some of Western Australia’s and Australia’s top tennis players and coaches. For many, it was their first time picking up a tennis racquet, and the experience was both empowering and enjoyable.

In addition to tennis coaching, students engaged with a variety of hands-on cultural and learning activities including Shobukan Martial Arts, MADALH, UWA School of Indigenous Studies, Horizon Power, and cultural painting. The program was thoughtfully designed to support a range of learning styles and cultural connections, making it a rich and inclusive experience for all involved.
