GATE Camp

Skye Ogrizek – GATE Coordinator

It has been an exciting few weeks for our Year 7–9 GATE students, with Creative Edge and GATE Camp providing plenty of opportunities for creativity, teamwork, leadership and problem-solving.

This term, students worked in teams to tackle one of three Creative Edge challenges, developing a dramatic presentation as their creative solution. Three teams recently travelled to Curtin University for the Metro Challenge, where they performed their creations, answered questions from the judges and completed an Impromptu Challenge. All students represented the College brilliantly, and we now eagerly await the results to see if any teams progress to the State Finals!

The adventures continued with 54 students attending our annual overnight GATE Camp at Cahoots! Adventure Camp. Students challenged both mind and body through a variety of activities, with highlights including the Birds of Prey Experience, Astronomy Discovery Night and activities led by our fantastic Year 9 students.

“I enjoyed camp because there was a bunch of challenges and problems we had to solve.” – Eamon, Year 7

“We enjoyed learning about the birds of prey and creating new memories together.” – Julia and Mackenzie, Year 8

“It was so much fun being able to experience and overcome challenges with different people outside of school.” – Dilan and Lauren, Year 9
