Gold Day was a meaningful event created and led by Kolbe Catholic College’s Year 10 cohort. Held on 11 September 2026, the day brought our community together to raise awareness of childhood cancer and funds for the Perth Children’s Hospital cancer ward.
Year 10 leaders and volunteers worked hard to plan and promote a range of activities, including a bake sale, sausage sizzle, coloured hairspray, face painting, friendship bracelets, nail painting, a raffle, music and games. Students and staff embraced the opportunity to get involved and support children and families affected by cancer.
For Year 10 volunteer April, helping organise the event was a highlight. “We ran heaps of fun stalls and it was amazing to see the school donate generously towards childhood cancer. It showed how much kindness and compassion the Kolbe community has.”
Beyond fundraising, Gold Day was an opportunity to connect and put compassion into action. As Year 10 student Phoebe reflected, “With some delicious food, colourful hair spray and face painting, everyone came together to raise awareness and make a difference.”
Eleanor captured the meaning behind the event: “A little bit of gold can mean so much more than a colour. Gold Day became a reminder of hope, and of how much it matters when people show up together.”
Through their leadership and service, the Year 10 cohort created an opportunity for our school community to live out the values of courage, faith and excellence while supporting those in need. Thank you to everyone who helped make Gold Day a success.
