On Friday, June 14th, the Year 10 students at Kolbe participated in the Future Pathways Day, an important event designed to guide them through their senior school subject selections and career options. Activities spanned two campuses: Kolbe and the South Metropolitan TAFE, Rockingham, providing students with comprehensive insights into various Senior School Pathways and potential future careers.
The day began with a panel discussion featuring former Kolbe students who shared their experiences at Kolbe and after graduation. Their stories reassured the Year 10 students that their current career choices might change over time, and that this is a natural part of their journey.
Students were then divided into two groups. One group stayed at Kolbe, where they attended workshops led by staff from Murdoch University, Notre Dame University, University of Western Australia and Edith Cowan University. These workshops offered valuable insights into university life and included hands-on activities related to ethics, nursing, and ATAR scores.
The other group visited SMTAFE, Rockingham, highlighting the growing collaboration between Kolbe and TAFE. They toured the campus and spent time at the Jobs and Skills Centre, where they learned about TAFE applications, pathways, and the range of courses available. There were also a number of activities at Kolbe which allowed students the opportunity to “get hands on” in a number of industries.
A big thank you to our Kolbe Alumni for generously sharing their time and experiences with the Year 10 cohort. Special thanks also to Mrs. Sam Shepheard, Mrs. Munro and Mr Rick Bunn for their efforts in organising such a memorable day.
