On Friday, September 12th, 178 very excited Year 11s swapped their uniforms for glam dresses and sharp suits as we headed to The Birdie Restaurant in Port Kennedy for our long-awaited Dinner Dance!
From the moment we arrived, the vibe was electric. The venue was buzzing with music, a balcony space to chill and chat, and a mocktail bar with drinks that had some seriously cool names. Whether you wanted to dance straight away or ease into the night with friends, there was something for everyone.
Of course, one of the biggest highlights was seeing everyone all dressed up. The girls looked stunning in their dresses and outfits, and the boys definitely impressed in their formal gear. The effort everyone made really added to the atmosphere — it felt like a true celebration of our year group.
The food deserves its own shout-out! Many of us had never been to a cocktail-style event before, but after learning the art of “waiting, not chasing” the staff, we quickly got into the rhythm of enjoying gourmet finger foods and themed dishes that just kept coming. And yes — the food was absolutely amazing!
But the real magic happened on the dance floor. Almost our entire year group came together, regardless of friendship circles, to sing, dance, and laugh late into the night. For many of us, that moment — everyone united, having fun together — will be what we remember most.
Sophie summed it up perfectly: “The dinner dance was a memorable night, filled with lots of fun, excitement, and laughter. It was a great opportunity to see everyone all dressed up and having a great time on the dance floor. It was such a positive atmosphere being surrounded by all your peers, making it a night to remember!”
A huge thank you to Mr Russell, Ms Mitchell, Ms Rystedt, the Loyola House Staff, and the Birdie Restaurant team for making the evening so special. It was a night that brought us together, filled with memories we’ll carry with us into our final year.
