ACC Cross Country

David Walker (Head of Health & Physical Education)

After months of early morning training sessions and dedication, Kolbe Catholic College’s Cross Country team took to the course for the 2025 ACC Cross Country Carnival — and their efforts paid off in spades.

The journey began back in Term 1 at our Interhouse Cross Country Carnival. Since then, the team has shown unwavering commitment, training twice a week in preparation for one of the most competitive school events on the calendar. Race day finally arrived, giving our runners a chance to showcase their talent, fitness, and mental toughness.

With over 75 WA schools participating, each race featured hundreds of competitors. Every student’s placing contributed to the overall team score for their year group and gender — and in this competition, the lower the score, the better. We’re proud to share that every Kolbe runner came in at or under their school cross country pace, with most achieving personal bests. We are thrilled to confirm that Kolbe placed 13th overall, a significant improvement on 2024’s 18th position. A fantastic result and a reflection of the team’s commitment and progress!

One of the many highlights of the day was seeing every student, including reserves, take to the track. Illness and non-attendance prompted some reshuffling, but it provided a valuable opportunity for all to step up. Some even raced in higher age groups and distances, truly embodying the spirit of resilience.

As Year 12 Oscar reflected:

“I had a lot of fun training and hanging out with friends. We all worked really hard but at the end of the day, what matters is that we had fun.”

The day wasn’t just about times and rankings — it was about building camaraderie, school spirit, and lasting memories. Year 9 student Kyla summed it up beautifully:

“I loved that the atmosphere of all the schools and competitors was very positive and I loved how our whole school got along so well like it usually does and making friends was so easy. Overall, it was the best day ever!!”

Some standout results from the day include:
