In Week 5 of Term 2, our Year 7 students took time away from their regular classes and jumped headfirst into an unforgettable adventure — Ignite Week!
Now in its third year, this week-long, problem-solving challenge had students forming dynamic teams to tackle real-world questions like how to boost food security, improve road safety, or make housing more affordable. It was all about thinking big, dreaming bold, and working together to make a difference.
Across the week, students took part in hands-on workshops designed to grow our Kolbe Capabilities for Life — from building character and critical thinking to becoming creative collaborators and confident communicators. There were challenges, lightbulb moments, and lots of laughter, all wrapped in a supportive and high-energy environment.
The grand finale? An epic Ignite Expo, where teams wowed a panel of special guest judges from the wider Rockingham community with their innovative solutions. As a cherry on top, students also shared a celebratory lunch with their families, showing off all they’d achieved.
Ignite Week is more than just a project — it’s a launchpad for future changemakers. It pushes students out of their comfort zones and into something truly special. And this year’s Year 7s absolutely smashed it!
