ACC Cross Country

David Walker (Head of Health and Physical Education)

The Kolbe Cross Country Team travelled to Perry Lakes for the annual Associated and Catholic Colleges (ACC) Carnival. Competing with more than 80 other schools, it is a massive event. Each race (male and female, across all 5 age categories) saw more than 350 runners take to the track in what was an exciting day of competition.

Kolbe placed 18th overall for combined girls and boys aggregates, which is on par with recent years. Our Under 15 Girls team won back-to-back, their age category shield – A phenomenal effort! Thank you to all competitors for showing true Kolbe-spirit!

The greatest part of the day was that every student in attendance had an opportunity to run. Some individuals in particular ran in higher age groups, which was admirable and we appreciate their willingness to dig deep for their College. The strength of character, determination and excellent behaviour, especially from our younger athletes, was awesome to watch. It is always inspiring to see ‘personal bests’ and improved times from students who have trained hard, well done!

Fastest runner in each Age Group as well as some standouts are to be congratulated on their individual success:

Kolbe’s participation would not be possible without the coaching and organisation from our staff, in training and on the day of the Carnival; Thanks to Mrs Dredge in particular, Mr Wheeler, Miss Tubby, Mr Gerace, Ms Bresser, Mr Bray and Miss O’Donnell.
