ACC Swimming Carnival

Melissa Dredge (Sports Coordinator)

On Thursday, March 21st, the Kolbe Catholic College swim team, comprised of approximately 100 students, made their way to HBF Stadium for the ACC ‘B’ Division Swimming Carnival. With Kolbe’s impressive 4th place finish in the previous year’s event, this year’s goal was set on securing a spot in the top 3.

The Kolbe swimmers came ready to compete, showcasing their fierce spirit and determination throughout the day. The team’s overall standing fluctuated between 1st and 2nd place for much of the carnival, a testament to their hard work and dedication. The cheer squad rallied behind the swimmers, adding to the vibrant Kolbe spirit that was on full display.

As the day progressed, Kolbe remained in hot contention, especially leading into the Division 1 relays. Each swimmer gave their all, achieving many personal best times in the process. However, despite their best efforts, Kolbe was ultimately overtaken by Corpus Christi and St Mark’s, finishing in a commendable 3rd place overall.

The team faced challenges with some swimmers unable to compete due to injury and illness. In such moments, the reserve swimmers stepped up admirably, showcasing the depth of talent and spirit within the Kolbe team. A heartfelt thank you goes out to all who contributed to Kolbe’s success, both in and out of the pool.

The dedication of the team was evident in their commitment to morning training sessions leading up to the event. Kolbe extends their gratitude to all students for their hard work and determination. With the experience gained this year, the team eagerly looks forward to the ACC ‘B’ Division Swimming Carnival in 2025, ready to once again showcase their talent and determination.
