Last Thursday, a group of Defence students and staff members headed to Nanga Bush Camp in Dwellingup for an overnight camp. This camp afforded the opportunity for these students to get to know each other in a more relaxed environment and share their experiences as children of Defence members.
The students and staff participated in zip lining, team building activities (which quickly turned into boys against girls and was fierce!) and a scavenger hunt. Some of the highlights included a campfire complete with S’mores, a visit by an overly friendly quenda, kangaroos showing off their joeys and a SURPRISE visit by a bat in the girls’ cabin. One student observed, “Mrs Delamont, that’s your roller coaster scream!”
It was a scenic trip back to school, stopping at Serpentine Dam to eat lunch and play some games. The green parrots were so friendly and entertaining, much to the delight of our students. Everyone arrived back at school relaxed and happy about the memories they made together.
