ADF Family BBQ

Robin Delamont (Defence School Mentor)

On Thursday afternoon, 23 February, several of our school Defence students and their families gathered outside of Block 2 where they enjoyed a delicious barbecue dinner and nine holes of miniature golf. This event, coordinated by our Defence School Mentor (DSM), Mrs. Robin Delamont, with the assistance of our Aboriginal Educator, Mrs. Lisa Dann, enables our Defence families to not only reconnect with each other but also provides the opportunity to welcome our newest members to our school community.

Year 11 student, Lucas Lindo shared with us that, “I love the ADF BBQ because it gives me a chance to talk to other families involved with the defence force.” Year 11 student, Declan Dew added, ” I really enjoyed going to the ADF welcome barbeque as is allowed me as a new student to connect with other families. It is also nice to meet people who have experienced what I have being in a defence family.”

This event is invaluable to our school Defence members as it helps us to integrate our new families into our school community, provides a support network to our defence families and establishes friendships between our defence students.
