On Thursday 21 May, our Year 12 Ministry Captains and Year 10 Leaders attended the Archbishop’s Launch for LifeLink Day alongside students from Catholic secondary schools across Western Australia. Held as part of the annual LifeLink campaign, the event encouraged students to reflect on the importance of faith, compassion and service within their communities.
This year, Archbishop Timothy Costelloe centred his address on the example of St Francis of Assisi, inviting students to consider Francis as a person of prayer, purpose and peace. Throughout the day, students explored the important work of LifeLink and the many ways young people can respond to the needs of others through acts of kindness, generosity and active service.
Reflecting on the experience, Daniela shared, “the LifeLink Launch was like a homily that called us to leave worldly wealth behind and reach out to those in need, remembering that Christ lives within each of us.”
Reese also described the day as “a unique and unforgettable experience,” adding that hearing the Archbishop and Bishops speak about the Franciscan Jubilee in a way that connected to everyday life was both “refreshing and memorable.”
The Launch for LifeLink Day was a meaningful opportunity for students to deepen their understanding of faith in action and recognise the many ways they can become instruments of peace, hope and service within the world around them.
