Our last whole school assembly was all about recognising not only achievement but also the journey it takes to get there. Our Student Executive – Leon, Isla, Judd, and Kelsey – opened with an inspiring message on our 2025 Leadership Theme: Past, Present, Future. Drawing on the climb to Mount Everest and Cathy Freeman’s iconic Sydney 2000 win, they reminded us that excellence is built on persistence, resilience, and learning from every step – even the stumbles.
We were also delighted to celebrate the 10th anniversary of our Japanese Cultural Exchange with Keio Futsubu School. Twenty Keio students have joined us this week, forging friendships and cultural connections that will continue when Kolbe students travel to Japan later this year. Special thanks to our host families for their generosity, and to Caio, Go, and Haruma for their warm greetings on stage.
Academic excellence shone brightly today. We acknowledged Semester One Certificates of Academic Excellence across all Learning Areas, as well as the outstanding results of our Year 12 Chemistry teams in the Titration Stakes competition – including three students, Matilde Bosworth, Jensen Nicoll, and Benjamin Campbell, who achieved High Distinction.
The arts were also in the spotlight, with Olivia Bibby, Taleah Phillips, and Theane Ewald representing Kolbe at the prestigious St George’s Cathedral Art Exhibition. Theane’s Highly Commended Award was a remarkable honour, with only 11 presented across the state.
We proudly recognised the inaugural Rising Scholar Program participants – eight GATE students from Years 10 and 11 who undertook a Curtin University unit while still in high school, with six earning Distinction grades.
The assembly concluded with the Deputy Principal and Principal Awards, presented to students who have demonstrated exceptional commitment and effort in their studies.
From academic triumphs to cultural exchange, from creativity to scientific precision – today was a celebration of the many ways our students reach for their own “Mount Excellence.”
