Dance Night 2026, themed Carpe Diem, was a moving and memorable celebration of creativity, community and resilience, held here at Kolbe Catholic College.
The evening brought together 130 students in a powerful performance inspired by the life of local role model Sonja, whose personal journey of strength and perseverance formed the heart of the night. Through dance, her story served as a beautiful reminder of the importance of hope and resilience in the face of life’s challenges.
Adding to the spirit of community, the night also featured special performances from students at Rockingham Early Learning and Child Care Centre and Rocky Beach Education Support Centre. Dancers of all ages worked together, supported one another and shared in the joy of performance, creating an atmosphere that was truly uplifting.
Year 12 student Paige reflected that “it felt really special to be part of something that meant so much to so many people”, while fellow Year 12 student Chloe shared that “Sonja’s story showed us that dance can be more than performance, it can give people hope”.
The message of the night was clear: through passion, teamwork and a willingness to be vulnerable, dance has the power to bring people together and inspire others to keep going, even through the most difficult of times.
Congratulations to all involved on a night our community will not soon forget.
