Our Year 7 students have made a fantastic start to life at Kolbe. The journey began on Wednesday when the students were welcomed to the school via a guard of honour formed by our Year 12 students. There was a lot of nervous energy, but this wonderful tradition was a great start to the day.
“On my first day, I didn’t know anyone so I was very nervous. I’ve had sisters come to Kolbe so I was also excited for some of the things they’d told me about. When we walked through the Guard of Honour, I felt instantly comfortable.” – Beau, Year 7
One of the major goals for the first few weeks of Year 7 is establishing positive relationships. This year, we have students from over 20 different primary schools, and it has been great to see new friendships being formed so quickly.
“I’ve already made lots of new friends. I feel like the teachers here at Kolbe are so welcoming and nice and they’ve made the transition into year 7 easier. Mrs Buffier is very understanding and explains things step by step” – Damon, Year 7
The Year 7 Staff have been so impressed with the way our new Year 7s have started in the classroom. They are already learning to use their diaries effectively and now that they have received their iPads, many new exciting learning opportunities can begin.
“I have enjoyed going to all different classes and learning different things compared to primary school. I’ve loved media arts so far.” – Charlotte, Year 7
“The school has provided so many opportunities to make new friends and give us new experiences. I feel like I am definitely going to enjoy the next few years.” – Frank, Year 7
We’ll soon start preparing for our Year 7 camp, and we look forward to continuing this exciting new journey with the Year 7s this year!
