Kolbe’s senior drama students brought the house down with their side-splitting performance of Just Another High School Play, staged over two unforgettable nights on July 31st and August 1st. Performed in Week 2 of Term 3, this fast-paced comedy was a celebration of chaos, creativity, and pure student energy — and the perfect send-off for our talented Year 12s.
From the moment the lights went up in the Stage 7 theatre, the cast — a dynamic mix of Year 10, 11, and 12 students — had the audience in stitches. The play’s quirky, self-aware script poked fun at every theatre cliché in the book, with characters breaking the fourth wall, scenes falling apart on purpose, and actors embracing every comic mishap with flair and perfect timing.
What made this year’s production even more memorable was that students had a hand in selecting the play themselves. Just Another High School Play quickly emerged as a crowd favourite — not just because it was hilarious, but because it gave performers room to make it their own. Improvisation, witty delivery, and over-the-top personalities were all on full display, showcasing the cast’s natural chemistry and passion for performance.
It wasn’t just a play — it was a celebration of senior creativity, teamwork, and the joy of live theatre.
As Our Drama Captain, Oscar, put it: “Working on JAHSP was one of the highlights of my Year 12. Just the humour of the show always ended up making the cast smile, and the end product was a wonderful production that brought the house down.”
With big laughs, big energy, and even bigger heart, Just Another High School Play will go down as one of Kolbe’s most feel-good performances to date.
