KCC Cross Country

David Walker, Head of Health & Physical Education

Light rain and cloudy conditions on Friday morning was hardly noticed as Kolbe students and staff hit the track for the annual interhouse Cross Country races – A true test of mental strength, endurance and dedication to your team.

Students’ high energy and enthusiasm saw fast times, with over 90% of participants finishing the 3 kilometre course in under 30mins.

Having our new Gymnasium is great, as we gathered for prayer and race briefing before heading out to the start line. Afterwards too, we could gather under cover for presentations.

Xavier House were victorious again this year as Champions, accruing the most points for placing high up in each category – A talented performance, congratulations!

  1. Xavier – 1974 points
  2. Chisholm – 1875 points
  3. Loyola – 1771 points
  4. Rice – 1589 points
  5. MacKillop – 1543 points
  6. Teresa – 1482 points

Teresa House took out the Spirit Shield, having the greatest attendance at school in the morning, as well as getting the most number of finishers across the line in under the 30min cut off time for each category – An awesome team effort, well done!

Even though MacKillop did not win, we all tried our hardest and worked as a team. We displayed the Kolbe values and showed courage and persistence through our performance. Next year we will bounce back, because events like this are very important to Kolbe and bring out the best in Mackillop. — Cooper (Year 10)

The running is hard work, but I enjoyed being with my friends and I think I did better than my time last year. — Nelson (Year 8)

It is a very good day to hang out with friends and keep fit and healthy. Good to see Teresa keep up the good spirit and get the spirit shield. — Annika (Year 11)
