Year 12 Retreat

Brendan Bomford, Director of Campus Ministry

In the backdrop of Holy Week, our Year 12 students journeyed on Retreat to four locations on the outskirts of Perth, stepping away from timetables, assessments and the comforts of everyday life to “come away and rest for a while” (Mark 6:31). In this space, students were invited into deeper reflection, meaningful conversation, and time to explore relationships with one another and with God.

Anchored in the theme Crossroads from Book of Jeremiah 6:16, the retreat invited students to reflect on the paths that have shaped them – family, friendships and faith,  while looking ahead to their hopes and dreams for the future. The experience began fittingly on Palm Sunday, with many students leading ministries at Mass at Our Lady of Lourdes Catholic Church as Holy Week commenced.

As Sophie reflected, “The theme ‘Crossroads’ encouraged us to think about who we want to become and reminded us to live in the moment, even if the future feels uncertain.” Riley echoed this, describing the retreat as “an unforgettable experience… opening up doors for new connections and the opportunity to heal old ones.”

The time away was both valuable and necessary, a reminder that amid the busyness of Year 12, there is grace in pausing, reflecting and discerning the path ahead.
