Kolb-chella 2K26

Ellen Watson – Performing Arts Teacher

Our Kolbe Junior Music Night ‘Kolb-chella’ is an exciting celebration of the hard work, creativity, and dedication of our Year 8 – 9 General Music students and Year 7 – 9 Scholarship Music students. Taking place on Wednesday 4 June at 6:30pm on Kolbe’s Performing Arts Stage, the evening was a fabulous showcase of the musical skills and performances students have developed throughout Semester One.

For many of our General Music students, the evening was their very first experience performing on stage in front of a live audience. Throughout the semester, students have selected an instrument to learn, developed their performance skills, formed bands within their classes, and worked collaboratively to prepare their pieces. The concert provided an opportunity for them to put these skills into practice in an authentic performance setting.

Music Night is an important part of the students’ learning journey, offering valuable real-world performance experience while building confidence, resilience, and teamwork. It allows students to experience the excitement and challenge of sharing their music with others and gives families and friends the chance to celebrate their achievements. Year 8 student Georgina described the experience as “so much fun” and said they were “buzzing by the end of the night.”

Whether it is a student’s first performance or one of many, the evening was a rewarding and memorable experience. Students often leave Music Night feeling proud of what they have accomplished, inspired by their peers, and buzzing with excitement from the thrill of live performance.
