Sports @ Kolbe

Kolbe College

Another action-packed couple of weeks of Kolbe sport, with standout performances, tight finishes, and some seriously impressive team efforts across the board!

SSWA SENIOR TOUCH RUGBY

Our Senior Touch Rugby teams came out firing and dominated the pool stage with a string of strong wins across all four rounds, showcasing slick attacking play, solid defence, and excellent teamwork.

Both teams advanced through to the Grand Finals after a fantastic day on the field. Final standings saw our Girls finish an impressive 2nd overall, while the Boys placed 6th in their division. A strong campaign all round, with plenty of effort, growth, and Kolbe spirit on display!

AFL EAGLES CUP – YEAR 8/9 BOYS

What a finish! The Kolbe Catholic College Year 8/9 AFL team have been crowned Peel Division Eagles Cup Champions after an unforgettable day of football, showing resilience, composure and outstanding teamwork from start to finish.

In a thrilling Grand Final against Mandurah Catholic College, the game went right down to the wire, with Kolbe holding firm under late pressure thanks to crucial defensive efforts from Aaron and Cruze. With just one minute remaining, Xavier stepped up to kick the match-winning goal, which will see them through to the next round of the competition.

SSWA JUNIOR VOLLEYBALL – YEAR 7–9 GIRLS

Unstoppable! Our girls went through the entire day undefeated across all 6 games, claiming the Regional Championship title and booking their place at the State Championships!

Led brilliantly by captains Kylar and Arianne, the team showed incredible teamwork, consistency, and determination from start to finish. A special shoutout to Kylar for her outstanding performances throughout the tournament, continuing to set the standard after being selected to represent WA in volleyball.

HOCKEY – YEAR 7–9

Our Year 7–9 Hockey team travelled to Perth Hockey Stadium for a fantastic day of competition against schools from across WA, taking on experienced opposition and finishing with 3 wins and 2 losses. Despite being one of only two schools competing in the tournament for the very first time, Kolbe finished an impressive 5th out of 8 schools.

Across every match, students approached the day with positivity, teamwork, and determination, always supporting one another and giving their best. A special shoutout to our player debutants — Georgina, Indi, Jacob, and Lucas  who represented Kolbe brilliantly in their first competition.

SSWA NETBALL – YEAR 8 GIRLS & YEAR 11/12 BOYS

Rain, rain… and more rain! Despite soaking conditions all day, our netballers embraced the challenge and showed incredible resilience, teamwork, and positivity. Kolbe 1 Year 8 Girls were unstoppable, winning all 5 pool games and securing their place in the Elimination Finals this August. Meanwhile, Kolbe 2 fought hard to finish with 2 wins and 2 losses, showing fantastic teamwork throughout the day.

Our Year 11/12 Boys also impressed, winning all but one game, narrowly going down by just 2 points in a nail-biting clash. Huge credit to the entire boys team, who attended during study breaks and even rearranged exams to represent Kolbe, a true reflection of commitment, teamwork, and school spirit. A special mention also to Year 11 student Olivia, who gave up her day off to coach the Kolbe 2 team while balancing study in between, great work!

AFL EAGLES CUP – YEAR 8/9 BOYS

Fresh off being crowned Peel Region Eagles Cup Champions, the boys hosted Hammond Park Secondary College in the next stage of the competition. After a tough start, Kolbe fought back strongly in the second half, showing grit and determination to win the half, but unfortunately fell just two goals short at the final siren.

The boys showed fantastic resilience and never stopped competing, with plenty of support also coming from students who stepped up as runners and goal umpires. A huge thank you as well to Mr Walsh and Mr Oswald, who jumped in to umpire after a late no-show, another brilliant example of the amazing support within our Kolbe community.
