From heart-stopping netball to unstoppable soccer, Kolbe teams have been putting on a show of grit, skill, and true team spirit! Here’s the wrap-up of two massive weeks of sport.
19 August | Senior Boys Netball | ACC Grand Final vs Ursula Frayne CC
At the Gold Netball Centre, our boys gave us a rollercoaster of a game! After a slow start and trailing by six, they stormed back to lead by three in the final quarter thanks to Lachlan’s rock-solid defence, Zayde’s dominant holds in the circle, and Saxon’s clever attacking play. With seconds to go, the game slipped away by just one goal but what a performance! A valiant effort that promises redemption next year.
20 August | RKAS Lower School Soccer | Away vs Mother Teresa
Our soccer stars stormed to a 4–2 victory on the road! Captain Shelby led from the back with a commanding performance, Ollie owned the midfield, and Michael was unstoppable in front of goal, netting a hat-trick to bring his tally to 7 goals in just two games. A classy team effort!
22 August | Schools Cup | Year 11 Girls Volleyball Division A
In their third attempt at the prestigious Schools Cup, our Year 8–11 girls showed heart and determination. Opening with two impressive wins, they demonstrated fantastic growth and teamwork, with standout performances from our youngest players Brielle, Arianne and Kylar who were playing up against older opponents. After a narrow loss to the eventual champions, they battled bravely in their playoff to finish 3rd overall. A huge effort, and our Year 11s are more determined than ever for their final shot next year!
26 August | SSWA Basketball | Junior Girls (Years 7–9) @ Bendat Basketball Stadium
What a day for our Junior Girls! Winning 3 out of 4 games, they played with skill, teamwork and brilliant sportsmanship. Narrowly missing out against Mt Lawley by just one point, they bounced back in the semi-final with a huge win over Mandurah Catholic College to book their place in the Grand Final in Week 10 – a rematch against Mt Lawley! Bring it on, Kolbe!
26 August | RKAS Junior Volleyball | Years 8–9 Tournament
Our young volleyballers were unstoppable! Facing six other schools in a one-day competition, they went on a perfect winning streak, including a thrilling final match against Court Grammar – another undefeated team. In a nail-biting showdown, Kolbe edged them out 42–39 to claim tournament victory! MVP went to Year 8 student Kylar, who played all six long matches with absolute finesse.
27 August | RKAS Senior Volleyball | vs Living Waters
Our senior volleyball team battled hard against Living Waters, coming away with a 2–1 win. After Living Waters fought back in the second set, Kolbe dug deep and powered through in the decider. A standout performance from Khyleen, who deservedly earned MVP!
27 August | RKAS Lower School Soccer | Home vs Living Waters
Despite the rainy conditions, Kolbe played with flair and fire to secure a 6–0 win at home! Captain Shelby once again led by example, while Michael bagged another brace to take his tally to 9 goals in 3 games. Jack netted 2, Harry added one, and debutant Lachy also got on the scoresheet. A clean sheet was the icing on the cake, with goalkeeper Matty drawing comparisons to Liverpool’s Alisson Becker with his brilliant saves. Outstanding work from the whole team!
