The Year 10 Retreat, centred on the theme From the Inside Out and inspired by the scripture passage “Happy are the pure in heart, they will see God” (Matthew 5:8), invited students to live out their faith through kindness, integrity, and service.
Over two days, students experienced faith in action. One day was spent teaching Religious Education lessons on Creation and the Commandments at local Catholic primary schools. Ruby shared, “Being able to see the smiles on the children’s faces … was the best feeling ever. It made us feel absolutely amazing to know we were making a real impact on those around us.”
The second day saw students step out into the community, supporting agencies such as Vinnies outlet stores, The CREW, and Baldivis Children’s Forest, assisting with school maintenance, cleaning up Rockingham Beach, cooking meals for those in need, and even painting a mural at Rockingham Hospital. For Pavinyasre, the experience was “eye-opening … as we actively saw the happiness we can bring when helping people around us.”
Many also reflected on how the retreat strengthened their own bonds. Alex noted, “Year 10 Retreat was really impactful on not only our community but also our cohort, as it taught us the importance of having a strong connection to our community and helping those in need.”
This retreat was a reminder that God is revealed in simple moments of service and joy that come from the heart.
