Kolbe’s Walk for Water

Sienna, Year 12 KolbeCare Captain

On Tuesday 24th March, Kolbe Catholic College hosted its annual Caritas Walk for Water, bringing together over 100 students from across all year levels. Held on the school grounds, participants completed a 3km cross country course in support of a meaningful global cause.

The Walk for Water aims to raise both funds and awareness for communities around the world who must walk long distances each day to access clean drinking water. Through this experience, students gained a deeper understanding of the daily challenges faced by others and were encouraged to reflect on the privileges often taken for granted.

This year’s event was a remarkable success, raising over $8,000, which is the highest amount Kolbe has raised in a single year yet. This achievement was made possible through the generosity and collective efforts of students, staff, and families, highlighting the strength of our College community.

Beyond the physical challenge, the Walk for Water fostered a strong sense of compassion, gratitude, and social responsibility among participants. It served as a powerful reminder of the impact we can make when we come together with a shared purpose.

Year 11 student Morgan shared, “I enjoy participating in the Walk for Water every year as it is a reminder that we should be grateful for everything we have, as there are many people less fortunate. It encourages us to step outside of our comfort zones and into the shoes of the millions of people who don’t have easy access to drinking water.”
