We’ve had an overwhelming number of activities and events, fuelled by the generous spirit of staff, students and parents in creating a vibrant community.

Expressions of gratitude have been visible over the past fortnight, with the Father’s Day Breakfast hosted by Year 9 and senior Hospitality students. The winning dad joke from the event was, “Why did the teacher have to wear sunglasses? Because their class was too bright.” A suitable groan was heard from the kids at the breakfast! It was a wonderful celebration of gratitude for the role dads, granddads, uncles and male role models play in our lives. Student Leaders Mass continued the theme of gratitude, with a focus on the many talents and acts of service our 2026 leaders have shared throughout the year.

Student-led initiatives have seen charity in action. Gold Day, a Year 10 idea, has brought the cohort and College together to raise funds for Perth Children’s Hospital (PCH) in support of childhood cancer. R U OK? Day also sees charity through connection, encouraging us to reach out to each other and check in. Ducks have adorned the school, suggesting that we don’t duck the conversation that needs to happen.

The theme of eNews this week is centred on celebrating the life and mission of Saint Mary MacKillop. MacKillop House taught by example, baking to run morning teas and bringing the community together. Mr Lacey and the student leaders did so much to encourage us to enjoy each others company and spend quality time together.

Teams of students and staff came together to perform, compete and overcome a diverse range of challenges. Including hiking and biking on Year 10 Outdoor Education camp, exploding watermelons for STEM week, getting a brain workout through GATE camp and the Creative Edge competition, or the countless performances at the Catholic Performing Arts Festival. There have been so many ways for different talents to shine and to work in unity.
I’ve had a smile on my face for weeks now and I’m incredibly proud of all the student and staff achievements and efforts. Kolbe is such a magnificent community.
