Rising to the Challenge

Jenefer Wiltschut (Head of Wellbeing)

In Week 9, Kolbe’s Rising Leaders took part in a dynamic and engaging excursion designed to strengthen their leadership and teamwork skills. The day was carefully planned to challenge students both mentally and physically, giving them real opportunities to grow in confidence and capability.

The morning session was held at school, where students participated in a series of interactive challenges. Each activity required them to communicate clearly, solve problems under pressure, and make the most of their teammates’ strengths. Whether they were navigating tricky puzzles, completing group tasks, or negotiating items of survival, the students quickly learned the value of collaboration and trust. It was a powerful reminder that leadership isn’t just about taking charge—it’s about listening, supporting others, and working together toward a shared goal.

In the afternoon, the group travelled to the Mandurah Indoor Rock Climbing Centre, where they faced an entirely different kind of test. The climbing walls, ninja course, and trapeze silks pushed them out of their comfort zones and demanded resilience, focus, and teamwork. Many students surprised themselves with what they were able to achieve with the support and encouragement of their peers. Throughout the day, students demonstrated a strong willingness to step up, take responsibility, and support one another—a clear sign of the emerging leaders they are becoming.

A heartfelt thank you to our P&F for their generous support of this excursion. Experiences like these are vital in helping our students build the practical skills and confidence they need to lead with integrity and heart.
