TKW Week

Ben Otto (TKW Coordinator)

TKW Week stands as a major milestone on the Year 9 calendar, guiding students through a series of meaningful experiences that support their transition into young adulthood. Rooted in an ethos that values mental, emotional, physical, and social well-being, the program encourages students to build resilience, independence, self-awareness, and a strong sense of responsibility—all within a safe and supportive environment.

Throughout the week, students moved through a rich blend of activities: a religious pilgrimage, a service and challenge component, and a three-day, two-night camp. Each experience was intentionally designed to strengthen character and teamwork, while giving students valuable moments for personal insight.

The camp featured the program’s most significant element: the Solo. For twelve hours, students spent time alone in their tent—reflecting, journaling, and caring for themselves without reliance on peers or teachers. For many, it became one of the most transformative moments of their schooling so far. As one student shared, “The Solo was tough, but it showed me how strong I actually am.”

Others found the week offered clarity and connection in unexpected ways. One student reflected, “TKW helped me understand myself better and appreciate the people around me.” These responses capture the heart of the TKW experience—growth through challenge, reflection, and community.

Overall, TKW Week remains a powerful and formative journey for our Year 9 students, and this year was no exception. It was a week embraced and enjoyed by both staff and students, shaping memories and lessons that will stay with them long beyond their time at camp.
