2024 KCC Swimming Carnival

David Walker (Head of Health and Physical Education)

The KCC Swimming Carnivals were held in Week 3 at the Rockingham Aquatic Centre and, as usual, it was a fantastic community celebration in the Kolbe spirit, both in and out of the water.

There was a great turn out of students at the Twilight Carnival, taking the opportunity to cool off and support their Houses. The following day, records fell, as the whole school fought it out to show what they could do. Xavier were triumphant in the end and Loyola were adjudged the Spirit Shield winners for their flag waving, cheering, participation and efforts around the pool and in the novelty events.

And here is what some of our student had to say about the day:

“Growing up in a swimming environment, and experiencing the different atmospheres around the pool deck, I don’t think anything compares to Kolbe’s passion for the pool. The environment at the carnival is so positive and exciting to be a part of!”  – Maisy (Year 12)

“At the swimming carnival, the vibe was amazing! Everyone was giving their all, having a great time with friends. From the cheers by the pool to the funny moments, it was a fantastic day filled with energy!” – Sanjay (Year 9)

Thank you to all staff, student helpers, House Leaders (especially our Sports Captains), and parents who attended and made the day a big success. It’s always a fun way to kick off the Kolbe sporting calendar of events.

Well done to the individual Champions and Runners up, who were honoured with medallions on the day. Also to everyone who participated, you can be proud of your efforts. We commend you for the way you conducted yourselves in such a positive way. At events like this, trust is a big thing. Kolbe knows how to make the most of these days, which is really something special about being part of this school.

There is lots more to come in 2024. Next, our Interschool Swimming Team will compete in the B Division Associated and Catholic Colleges (ACC) Swimming Carnival on Thursday 21st March (Wk 8). Then, our Interhouse Cross Country Carnival will be held at Kolbe on Monday 25th March (Wk 9) to finish off the term – Get into training!

The final House points tally, year level medallion recipients and new records for the Carnival can be accessed through the Kolbe Inter-House Sports Swimming site.
