Kolbe Students Serve Up Kindness: A Day with Eat Up Charity

At Kolbe Catholic College, the words of St. Maximilian Kolbe, “Don’t ever forget to love,” are more than just a motto; they are a way of life. Rooted in our Catholic faith, service is a cornerstone of our educational philosophy. Our students are encouraged to embody these values, not just in words, but in actions that make a real difference in the lives of others.

Recently, 60 of our incredible students from Year 10 and 11 came together for a heartwarming initiative with Eat Up, a charity that provides over 20 thousand lunches to schools nationwide each week. The goal? To make over 1,000 sandwiches to support hungry children in need.

Eat Up’s mission is simple yet powerful: to feed hungry kids so they can learn, grow, and succeed in schools. With over 3 million lunches provided so far, Eat Up ensures that no child goes hungry, allowing them to focus on their education and future.

The students were divided into three groups: Sandwich makers, Sandwich wrappers, and Runners. The Sandwich makers buttered bread, placed cheese, and assembled the sandwiches, while the Sandwich wrappers were busy wrapping them. The Runners ensured that the Sandwich makers had a steady supply of ingredients and delivered the finished sandwiches to the wrapping station.

The atmosphere was one of camaraderie and joy as students worked together, knowing that their efforts would directly impact the lives of others. As one student put it, “It feels good to know that something as simple as making sandwiches can make a big difference in someone else’s day.”

At Kolbe, we are immensely proud of our students for their kindness, generosity, and willingness to serve others. Their actions embody the spirit of St. Maximilian Kolbe and serve as an inspiration to us all. Thank you to all the students who participated in this wonderful initiative. Your compassion and dedication are truly commendable, and you are making a real difference in the world.
