ACC Cross Country

Melissa Dredge – Head of Sport

The Kolbe Cross Country team departed before first light this morning, heading into Perth for the annual ACC Cross Country Carnival. With a squad of 70 students and weeks of dedicated training behind them, our athletes were ready to take on the cold and wet conditions and test their endurance and determination.

For the 40th consecutive year, the event was held at Alderbury Reserve, Perry Lakes, with every age group once again tackling the challenging 4km course. In the end, however, the weather cleared to mostly sunshine, providing perfect running conditions for the day ahead.

Our senior students opened the competition strongly and, with a full team competing, all runners finished comfortably within the cut-off time, setting an excellent standard for the rest of the day. It was fantastic to see our Year 11 and 12 students demonstrate such commitment to the Kolbe team. Despite balancing tests and preparation for upcoming exams, they still made the effort to proudly represent their school before returning to classes and study – a standard we hope future year groups will continue to follow.

Our Year 7 students then took to the course for the first time and, with over 400 competitors in their race, approached the challenge with confidence and determination, giving their absolute best effort. Kolbe’s future in distance running certainly looks bright.

We could not be more proud of the collective effort displayed by the entire team and the contribution each athlete made.

A special mention goes to:

  • Nixon, Year 11 – 13th
  • Brielle, Year 10 – 19th
  • Isabella, Year 9 – 20th
  • Molly, Year 11 – 27th

Well done, Kolbe!
