On Thursday, 27th March, Kolbe’s Swimming Team competed at Perth HPC in the 2025 ACC ‘B’ Division Swimming Carnival. The team made an impressive start, taking the lead after the 100m Freestyle and Medley Relay events. A standout performance came from the Senior Girls Medley Relay team—Lucia Anderson, Brielle Dredge, Talanah Kadamani, and Ella O’Brien—who broke a long-standing record from 2009. It was an exceptional way to begin the day.
Kolbe maintained the lead throughout the competition, with St Stephen’s remaining a close contender. Their strong performance in the relay events, which carried double points, created uncertainty around the final outcome. The result remained undecided until the official presentations, where it was confirmed that Kolbe had secured victory. Captains Taine Williams and Maddison Spence proudly accepted the winners’ shields on behalf of the team.
Kolbe achieved remarkable success, winning:
- Senior Girls Aggregate Shield
- Overall Girls Aggregate Shield
- Overall Aggregate Shield for ‘B’ Division (by 67 points)
A special acknowledgment goes to the swimmers who stepped in at the last minute, some as late as the day before the event. Their willingness to support the team ensured full participation in all races—an effort that did not go unnoticed.
Overall Age Group Champions:
- Paige Dredge – U13 Girls
- Brielle Dredge – U16 Girls
- Ella O’Brien – U19 Girls
Runner-Up Champions:
- Talanah Kadamani
- Mia Gabriel,
- Kaiya Williams
- Taine Williams
Additionally, Brielle Dredge broke the U16 Girls Breaststroke record, surpassing the previous mark set in 2019.
We could not be prouder of every swimmer’s dedication and performance. Their commitment to training in the lead-up to the event was outstanding, and they embodied Kolbe’s core values of Courage, Faith, and Excellence. Parents should be incredibly proud of the resilience and sportsmanship their children demonstrated—we certainly are!
With Division ‘A’ competition on the horizon, training for 2026 begins now. The challenge ahead is tough, but we are ready to show why Kolbe belongs at the top.
