In Week Two, Kolbe welcomed artist and UWA art lecturer Andy Quilty for a drawing workshop with Year 10 students. Quilty, a former Kolbe student, shared insights from his artistic journey and led the students through a hands-on session exploring experimental drawing techniques.
Currently serving as an art lecturer at the University of Western Australia and an award-winning WA artist, Quilty’s visit provided students with the opportunity to work with a practising artist. The workshop focused on practical activities, encouraging students to experiment with different drawing styles under Quilty’s guidance.
The session aimed to expose students to diverse artistic approaches, with Quilty emphasising experimentation and unconventional methods. The workshop provided a platform for students to engage directly with an accomplished artist, fostering a deeper understanding of artistic expression.
Overall, the event highlighted the school’s commitment to providing students with opportunities to explore and develop their artistic skills.
